This recipe reminded me a bit of one of the old recipes and variations of that. What was new was this excellent BBQ sauce. I have never made BBQ sauce before, so it might be that I’m only excited because this is new to me, but anyway, it tasted great and I suggest to try it!

Vegan Pulled Pork
 
Ingredients
  • BBQ SAUCE:
  • 140 g of pureed tomato
  • 2,5 dl water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp dried onions
  • 3 tsp strong smoked paprika powder (or if regular, add 1 tsp of chili powder)
  • 2 tsp bbq spice mix
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • lemon juice
  • salt
  • VEGAN PULLED PORK:
  • BBQ sauce
  • 4 dl dry soy meat (soijasuikaleet in Finnish)
  • Oil for frying
Instructions
  1. BBQ SAUCE:
  2. Mix dry spices and sugar in a cup
  3. Pour pureed tomato and water to a sauce pan and let boil
  4. Mix in rest of the ingredients and stir well. Cook for couple of minutes.
  5. Add salt if needed.
  6. VEGAN PULLED PORK:
  7. Cook soy meat as you would normally do. Drain and cut to smaller chunks.
  8. Heat oil on a frying pan and fry soy for couple of minutes to give them some color
  9. Mix BBQ sauce with the soy meat.
  10. If you are serving vegan pulled pork with buns, save some of the sauce to spread on the bread to make it more juicy.
